Increasingly, more resources for locating private grant makers are located on the Internet. Below is a short list of free resources to assist faculty, staff, and the FSU community in identifying potential funding sources for research projects and programs. I will be updating this page as more resources are identified.
Foundation Search America
Foundation Search America is North America's leading source of foundation funding information for non-profits. The FSU Foundation maintains a subscription and has staff whom can assist in conducting funding searches. To schedule a time to access this database please contact Kim Field at kfield@foundation.fsu.edu or 850-644-7199.

Other resources:
In addition to standard directories and databases on grants and funding opportunities, it is often useful to find supplemental information about corporations and private foundations. Below are a few:
Guidestar Database of Nonprofit Organizations
A useful guide to finding the recent tax returns (IRS Form 990) of private foundations and other private grant-making non-profits. Of particular interest are the lists of grants made during the tax year by an organization. Unlike many directory services, these lists are complete (as required by IRS regulations), however giving only the name of and amount given to the recipient institution.
