	New NSF Guidelines on RCR Training for Students and Postdocs The National Science Foundation is moving forward with its plan to “require that at the time of proposal submission to NSF, a proposing institution's Authorized Organizational Representative must certify that the institution has a plan to provide appropriate training and oversight in the responsible and ethical conduct of research to undergraduates, graduate students, and postdoctoral researchers who will be supported by NSF to conduct research..” To learn more, please click on the title above.

	Equipment Grant Update - Round 9 Competition Opens Labor Day 2009 The Office of Research announces that the ninth Equipment and Infrastructure Enhancement Grant (EIEG) competition will begin September 7. 	National Science Foundation requests Merit Review Expertise The National Science Foundation is requesting merit review expertise in the Academic Research Infrastructure - Recover and Reinvestment (ARI-R2) program (http://www.nsf.gov/pubs/2009/nsf09562/nsf09562.pdf). 	HHS Secretary Makes Recovery Act Funding Available to Expand Health Professions Training HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius has announced the availability of $200 million to support grants, loans, loan repayment, and scholarships to expand the training of health care professionals. The funds are expected to train approximately 8,000 students and credentialed health professionals by the end of fiscal year 2010. 	Opportunity to Submit Candidate Research Topic Ideas for EFRI 2011 Solicitation There is an opportunity (deadline September 15) for the research community to present to NSF, candidate topics for the Office of Emerging Frontiers of Research and Innovation (EFRI). NSF is seeking suggestions for topics that are not currently supported by NSF and could potentially lead to transformative results addressing national needs or grand challenges.
