Inaugurated in the fall of 2005, the Pathways of Excellence Initiative leverages the University's unique strengths with significant new investments in research and graduate education. This initiative is designed to target and hire 200 top faculty members who are national and international leaders in their respective fields. These hires will complement the highly respected faculty at Florida State by extending the university's reach in higher education, and strengthening its contribution to the educational, technical and economic development of the State of Florida and the nation. The Pathways Initiative will also bring significant added value to Florida State's world-class research groups and centers by making substantial investments in new facilities and enhancements to graduate education programs, particularly Ph.D. programs.
