Presidential Symposium with Mayo Neurosurgeon Dr. Q

Alfredo Quinones-Hinojosa, M.D., serves as chair of the Department of Neurologic Surgery at Mayo Clinic's campus in Florida. Hear the story of his journey from migrant farm worker to Harvard Medical School and ultimately Mayo Clinic, where he serves as William J. and Charles H. Mayo Professor” and Chair of Neurologic Surgery. When he’s not teaching or in the operating room, Dr. Q and his team are busy in the lab, dedicated to finding a cure for cancer.

This event is free and open to the public. No ticket required.

Translating Science into Practice

How is science putting FSU athletes at the top of their game? At FSU, the Institute of Sports Sciences and Medicine is a state-of-the-art research laboratory dedicated to optimizing health, body composition, and human performance. Led by Professor Michael Ormsbee, ISSM has been collaborating with FSU athletics to positively impact student-athlete health and readiness to compete on the national stage. As part of FSU Discovery Days, Professor Ormsbee along with Assistant Athletic Director of Sports Performance Elisa Angeles and Director of Sports Medicine Scott Trulock will talk about their journey to enhance the student-athlete experience at FSU, and how their approach has become a model for achieving precision health through technology and data analytics.
