White House Releases FY22 R&D Budget Priorities

Today, the Trump Administration released its annual research and development budget priorities. The document provides an early indication of what can be expected in the president's next budget request to Congress. For FY22, the administration has identified five priority areas, including:

  1. American Public Health and Security Innovation;
  2.  American Leadership in Industries of the Future and Related Technologies;
  3. American Security;
  4. American Energy and Environmental Leadership; and
  5. American Space Leadership.

The White House R&D blueprint for FY22 could be altered by the November 2020 elections. However, elements such as public health and QIS and AI R&D will likely be a focus in either a Trump or Biden administration.
