A Brief Overview of CRC Competitive Proposal Programs

The CRC offers eligible FSU Faculty these traditional programs (listed in alphabetical order) requiring competitive review.  Faculty must be considered to be actively full-time in order to be eligible for these programs, except where noted.  Visiting professors will be considered eligible providing the sole reason for their “visiting” status is that they are awaiting permanent US residency.

Proposal Deadline: 2/1/2018

AHPEGs are uniquely designed to facilitate and enhance the productivity of FSU researchers and artists by supporting the creation, production, and dissemination of arts and humanities research and creative activity.  This program provides up to $20,000 per project; it does not provide funds for faculty salary.  Specifics appear in the official Request for Proposals.

Proposal Deadline: 11/8/2017

This program provides up to $14,000 of summer salary support to assist with research or creative endeavors that encourage outside funding.  A typical budget might include faculty salary, student assistant stipend, research-related travel, and supplies.  Please note that any fringe benefits related to salary will be deducted from the award total.  Specifics appear in the official Request for Proposals.

Proposal Deadlines: 9/28/17 and 2/1/18

This program averages $40,000 per award in support of acquiring new equipment or infrastructure enhancements (such as upgrades to existing equipment, data sets, and data or tracking systems) to be used on FSU's campus.  The award only provides funding for equipment that supports multidisciplinary FSU alliances involving research and creative activity.  This program does not support project-related expenses including installation, operation, repairs, maintenance, or replacement of this equipment or tool.   NEW! As a test pilot in the 2017-2018 year, the CRC will also be accepting EIEG applications to refresh existing equipment or pay service contracts on existing interdisciplinary equipment on FSU's campus.  Specifics appear in the official Request for Proposals.

Proposal Deadline: 12/14/17

The purpose of this program is to provide first-year assistant professors with summer salary support to facilitate their research and/or creative activities, including efforts to obtain external funding for their work.  The CRC seeks FYAP proposals that clearly indicate a planned effort to establish an ongoing program of research or creative activity at FSU.  This program provides $20,000 per project for summer salary support; these funds may also be used for additional research-related expenses (travel, supplies, etc.) pertinent to the summer research.   Please note that any fringe benefits related to salary will be deducted from the award total.  Specifics appear in the official Request for Proposals.

Proposal Deadline:  None; apply at least 14 days prior to intended travel

This program supports faculty traveling to meet one-on-one with program managers or representatives of funding agencies or organizations.  These meetings must be directly related to a faculty member’s new program of research or creative activity for which they have yet to receive external funding.  The intent for this funding is that these visits will assist in establishing a relationship with the program manager, leading to repeated funding with that agency or organization.  This program provides up to $1,000 per award in travel funding.  Specifics appear in the official Request for Proposals.

Proposal Deadline: 12/7/17

This program supports the initial formation of multidisciplinary FSU alliances planning research or creative activity.  The proposal must describe how the initial joint efforts will result in new programs of research or creative activity that will lead to external funding, as well as how FSU will benefit from the establishment of these new multidisciplinary research and creative projects.  This program provides up to $25,000 per project.  Specifics appear in the official Request for Proposals.

Proposal Deadlines: 10/5/17 and 2/22/18

The purpose of this program is to provide seed funding, either for a new direction or continuing early support of existing research or creative activity, which will allow the principal investigator to obtain external support for the continuation of his or her efforts.  This program provides $13,000 per project; it does not provide funds for faculty salary.  Specifics appear in the official Request for Proposals.

Proposal Deadlines: 9/28/17 and 3/1/18

The purpose of this program is to provide a source of funding to assist faculty with the completion of a project, or some phase of a project, for which other funding sources are not available.  This program provides $3,000 per project; it does not provide funds for faculty salary.  Specifics appear in the official Request for Proposals.
