Mental and Behavioral Health

Collaborative Collision: Mental & Behavioral Health focuses on research related to our emotional, psychological, and social well-being. Mental health affects how we think, feel, and act. It also impacts how we handle stress, relate to others, make choices, and behave in different environments. Optimal mental and behavioral health is important at every stage of life, from childhood and adolescence through adulthood.

This networking event gathered researchers from across FSU working on Mental and Behavioral Health topics, as well as community and clinical partners interested in supporting these efforts, to help build connections and launch new research teams that will make a positive impact on our community.

Collaborative Collision focuses on each potential team member's research background and interests. Faculty researchers were asked to create a Research Profile, discussing their expertise and specific ways they can help or be helped by a collaborator or team.

You may have a creative idea for how arts can impact well-being in high-risk youth, but need experts who understand the nuances of Anxiety and Depression. Or you may have a wealth of data on Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, but need stronger mathematical tools to understand factors that predict clinical or educational outcomes. Maybe you are a neuroscientist looking to better understand patient experiences with Pain and comorbid Substance Use, but you need someone with expertise in qualitative research methods. Or you are an interventionist working in a clinic, but need digital tools to better reach rural patients with high quality health-related information. Maybe you are interested in how mental health impacts performance in schools, on the sports field, or at work, but need to connect with teachers, coaches, or institutional leaders. We're here to help bring together a variety of perspectives.
