The Division of Sponsored Research offers a wide variety of training opportunities for campus faculty, staff, and students. Please click on the links below for additional information:
The eSPEAR certificate series will be replacing the existing in-person Sponsored Research Administration Certificate Series and our SPEAR (Sponsored Projects Education & Resources) Workshops. Unlike the existing certificate and workshops, eSPEAR will be offered in a mainly online format in Canvas. This will allow administrators to access the information when needed, rather than waiting for a class to be offered. It will initially be comprised of ten (10) modules, which must be completed in order.
The eSPEAR courses are currently in development. The full program is scheduled to be completed in early 2020. The individual courses will be available to the FSU research community as they are completed. Once available, these can be taken and completion will provide credit towards earning the certificate.
For information on registering for this certificate series, please visit the eSPEAR Certificate Series Information page.
Note – The new eSPEAR Certificate Series will replace the Sponsored Research Administration Certificate Series and SPEAR (Sponsored Projects Education & Resources) Workshops. While FSU Staff and Faculty are welcome to take courses in either format, it is important to keep in mind that this is the last year that the Sponsored Research Administration Certificate Series and SPEAR will be offered. Those who are currently working towards a certification in the Sponsored Research Administration Certificate Series need to plan to complete this certification by May 2020 (when the in-person courses will be discontinued). The online courses in the eSPEAR Certification Program will be introduced over time with the expectation of the full program being available by April 2020. Work towards the eSPEAR Certification can begin at any time. Any questions regarding the transition between the programs, should be directed to Doug Hall at firstname.lastname@example.org.

Additional information concerning the Series can be found on the HR Training website. The courses will be offered several times throughout the year, a schedule of classes can be found here.
