Data Management and Sharing Plans

Thursday January 19, 2023 | 10:30 am - 12:00 pm

A data management and sharing plan (DMSP) is a formal document that outlines how you plan to handle your data both during your research project and after your project is complete, including how it will be made publicly available at the time of publication. The need for robust DMSPs has increased, with more federal and private funding agencies requiring DMSPs in their grant applications. The National Institutes of Health (NIH) have outlined new guidance requiring investigators to include a DMSP in proposals with submission deadlines after January 25, 2023

How does this affect your research? What do you need to include in your DMSP?

Join staff from the FSU Office of Research and the FSU Libraries for a workshop focused on crafting a DMSP that will meet policy requirements. Research Data Management Librarian, Dr. Nick Ruhs, will walk us through what DMSPs are, resources that are available to help craft DMSPs, how to create them, and examples of DMSPs for specific funding agencies. We'll have ample time for Q&A related to the new NIH guidance so that FSU researchers are prepared to respond.

Please review the FSU Libraries Research Data Management Guide prior to the live session.

Additional guidance and resources regarding the upcoming NIH policy can be found through the FSU Office of Research.

You may submit questions in advance when you register.
