Fall 2023 Issue

Welcome from the Director

On behalf of the FSU Research Development team, I want to welcome you back for the Fall semester. This is always an exciting time, and I know that we have many new faculty members joining this year. As always, Research Development is here to work alongside you, to help you find opportunities to apply for, and to make your proposals more competitive. We have several trainings and workshops in the works for the Fall semester and stand ready to edit your proposals. If you haven’t been to our website lately, take a look, as we are always adding more resources for you. I hope your academic year is a productive one and I look forward to hearing of your successes!

Best Wishes,
Beth Hodges, Director, Research Development

Many thanks to all who joined us at events,
shared our resources,
worked with our team, and contributed to FSU's innovative and creative successes over the last year!

Service Spotlight: Production Services

For team proposals, RD staff offer Team Management and Document Preparation services during the production phase of proposal development. We will create and maintain an online collaboration and project management system using Microsoft Teams. We’ll also stay on top of team members’ assigned tasks to make sure we’re meeting the timeline. During this process, RD staff will also manage the collection of information and supporting documents from proposal team members (especially those outside of FSU) and revise them according to solicitation and funding agency guidelines. These could include letters of support, facilities and resources, data management and sharing plans, and other attachments specific to the funding opportunity announcement and type of research (e.g., human subjects).

Resource Spotlight: Collaboration Resources

Looking for a collaborator with specific expertise? Reach out to your Research Development Coordinator and we will help you find the right match. We have access to a variety of resources, including the Faculty Expertise and Advancement System (FEAS), Florida ExpertNet, the Florida Research Development Alliance, and Pivot, to reach scientists within FSU, across the State the Florida, and beyond. Once you’ve got your team, we also offer assistance with collaboration tools such as Overleaf and Microsoft Teams during the proposal production phase (more on that below).
